Abstract

This study explores, translates, and transliterates multi-word expressions (MWEs) in Jordanian Arabic (JA), focusing on idioms and proverbs. These expressions are essential to communication, often conveying complex cultural meanings beyond their literal sense. While commonly used idioms reflect shared values, less frequent ones may carry deeper, culturally nuanced interpretations. The study distinguishes between literal and implied meanings to show how language reflects cultural identity. By examining MWEs in JA, it highlights their role as both linguistic tools and cultural artifacts, emphasizing their importance in understanding Jordanian society.
